For centuries, people have gathered in streets and squares, theaters and festivals, encountering one another and sharing experiences. Seeing, listening, and moving together in the same place has created relationships and memories, while shaping the character of cities themselves.

Technological advances have made it possible to remain connected without physically sharing the same place, while also transforming the ways we meet and relate to one another. As a result, meeting face to face and reaching out to one another can sometimes feel increasingly unfamiliar and difficult. Yet we continue to long for unexpected encounters and for the immersion and playfulness that such moments can bring. The need to be together has not disappeared.

Amid these changing relationships and sensibilities, what does it mean to share an experience today? This session explores how festivals, performances, and artistic practices in the city can both sustain existing forms of collective experience and create new ways of connecting and encountering one another.

인간은 오래전부터 거리와 광장, 공연장과 축제에 모여 서로의 존재를 마주하고 경험을 나누어 왔다. 같은 공간에서 함께 보고 듣고 움직이는 일은 관계와 기억을 만들고, 도시의 모습을 형성해 왔다.

기술의 발전은 우리가 물리적으로 같은 장소에 있지 않아도 연결될 수 있게 만들었고, 동시에 사람을 만나고 관계 맺는 방식 자체도 변화시켰다. 이에 우리는 이제 직접 얼굴을 마주하고  손을 맞잡는 일이 점점 더 낯설고 어렵게 느낀다. 그러먼서도 여전히 우연한 만남을 꿈꾸고 그 마주침이 선사하 새로운 몰입과 유희를 갈구하고 있다. 함께 있음의 필요는 사라지지 않았다.

변화한 관계와 감각 속에서 함께 경험한다는 것은 오늘날 어떤 의미를 갖는가. 축제와 퍼포먼스, 도시의 예술 실천이 기존의 공동 경험을 이어가는 동시에 새로운 연결과 만남의 방식을 어떻게 만들어 갈 수 있을지 가늠해 본다.
