그 속에서 새로운 공감과 미래의 가능성을 발견하고자 노력해 왔습니다.

이번에 새롭게 시작하는 <서울국제예술포럼(SAFT 2025)>은

예술, 기술, 도시, 정책이 한자리에 모여 서로의 언어로 대화하는 자리입니다.

이 포럼은 단순한 담론의 장을 넘어,

서울이 ‘예술로서 말하고, 문화로서 리드하는 도시’로 나아가는 여정의 출발점이 될 것입니다.

예술은 언제나 우리 사회가 스스로를 성찰하고, 미래를 상상하도록 이끌어 왔습니다.

경제나 기술이 도시의 속도를 만든다면, 예술과 문화는 그 속도에 방향을 제시합니다.

이제 서울은 빠르게 변화하는 시대의 중심에서,

예술을 통해 ‘함께 살아가는 도시의 품격’을 이야기하고자 합니다.

문화는 도시의 경쟁력을 넘어, 사람과 공동체를 잇는 새로운 인프라가 되고 있습니다.

지금 세계는 문화와 기술이 함께 진화하는 거대한 전환기를 지나고 있습니다.

이 변화 속에서 우리는 예술이 인간의 감성과 상상력을 지켜내는

가장 인간적인 힘이라는 사실을 다시금 깨닫게 됩니다.

서울은 이 힘을 기반으로, 기술과 도시의 미래에 ‘예술적 균형’을 더해가는 도시가 되기를 꿈꿉니다.

서울국제예술포럼이 그 꿈의 첫 장이 되길 바랍니다.

Art is the face of a city, and culture is the language through which that city speaks to the world.

The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture has long strived to share Seoul’s diversity and creativity with the world through art — discovering new empathy and possibilities for the future along the way.

Today, we are proud to open the Seoul Arts Future Talk (SAFT 2025) — a forum where art, technology, urban life, and policy come together to converse in a shared language.

More than just a venue for discussion, this forum marks the beginning of Seoul’s journey to become a city that speaks through art and leads through culture.

Art has always guided societies to reflect on themselves and imagine new futures.

If the economy and technology define a city’s pace, art and culture give that pace direction.

In this era of rapid change, Seoul seeks to speak through art about the dignity of living together in a city of harmony.

Culture today extends beyond competitiveness — it has become a vital infrastructure that connects people and communities.

As the world experiences a great transformation where culture and technology evolve together, we are reminded that art remains the most human force — preserving emotion, imagination, and empathy.

With this belief, Seoul aspires to add artistic balance to the future of technology and the city itself.

I hope the Seoul Arts Future Talk will be the first chapter of that dream.

지난 10년을 돌아보면, 서울은 매우 다이나믹한 도시였습니다.

눈부신 성장의 이면에는 다양한 갈등과 조정이 공존해 왔고,

그 여정은 마치 롤러코스터를 타는 듯 예측할 수 없는 굴곡의 연속이었습니다.

엔데믹 이후 3년차, 많은 것들이 무너지고 사라져버린 자리에는

이제 AI를 필두로 한 기술의 폭발적 진화, K-열풍 등 예상치 못했던 변화들이

우리 사회와 주변부를 빠르게 채워가고 있습니다.

2025년 11월,

우리는 다시금 문화와 예술에 대해 질문을 던집니다.

격동의 시기를 지나 오늘을 맞이하고 있는 예술, 예술가, 예술기관은

동시대 좌표의 어디 즈음에 위치하고 있으며, 어느 곳을/무엇을 바라보고 있는지?

<서울국제예술포럼(SAFT 2025)>은

예술, 기술(AI), 도시, 정책 등 많은 것들이 분주하게 교차하는 지금,

‘예술감각과 인공지능의 공진화’, ‘서울다움과 예술도시’, ’글로벌 도시의 로컬리티와 매력‘ 등

다양한 주제를 통해 예술-서울-세계의 연결을 모색합니다.

예술이 다시금 도시의 언어가 되고,

문화와 예술이 도시를 넘어 세계를 연결하고,

그 연결이 서로의 다름과 같음, 긴장과 유연함, 변화와 머무름의 간극을

이어주고-메워주고-치유할 완충재로 작동할 그 가능성을 본 포럼에서 찾기를 기대합니다.

<서울국제예술포럼(SAFT 2025)>은 예술과 미래를 잇고,

예술의 다음 행보를 한 발 앞서 짚어보는 글로벌 공론장으로 그 역할을 다하겠습니다.

Looking back over the past decade, Seoul has been a truly dynamic city.

Behind its remarkable growth, there have always been layers of conflict and coordination — a journey filled with unpredictable ups and downs, much like a roller coaster ride.

Now, in the third year after the endemic, as many things have collapsed or disappeared,

new and unexpected forces — from the explosive evolution of AI to the global wave of K-culture — are rapidly reshaping our society and its peripheries.

As we enter November 2025, we once again pose fundamental questions about culture and the arts.

Where do art, artists, and arts institutions stand today, after this turbulent time? And toward what future are they looking?

The Seoul Arts Future Talk (SAFT 2025) emerges at a moment when art, technology (AI), urban life, and policy intersect in ever more complex ways.

Through themes such as “The Co-evolution of Artistic Sensibility and Artificial Intelligence,”

“Seoulness and the Artistic City,” and “Locality and Attraction in Global Cities,”

the Forum seeks new ways to connect art, Seoul, and the world.

We hope this forum becomes a space where

art once again becomes the language of the city,

where culture and art connect cities across the globe,

and where those connections serve as buffers — bridging and healing

the gaps between difference and similarity, tension and flexibility, change and continuity.

In this autumn, as Seoul becomes deeply immersed in art,

the Seoul Arts Future Talk (SAFT 2025) aims to link art and the future,

and to take one step ahead in exploring the next directions of the arts

as a truly global platform for dialogue and imagination.
